Six different skaters score in 7-0 victory

It was six for one and half a dozen of another for Jaguar Mite #2 Saturday afternoon.
Six different skaters tallied goals for the first victory of the season and half a dozen assists were recorded as the Jaguars posted a 7-0 victory over Peoria #1. It brought their record in the seeding round of the Northern Illinois Hockey League’s Silver Division to 1-1.
The Jaguars dropped the season opener 4-0 to the Arctic Vikings at Orland Park on Sept. 25.
It took less than five minutes of the home opener for the Jaguars to claim their first lead of the season. Evan McDonald found the back of the net at the 6:10 mark of the opening stanza. Credit for the assists went to Trevor Hudak and Jarrett Goodwin.
The Jaguars tallied an insurance goal with just :38 on the clock in the second period, as Blake Brenczewski picked up a rebound on the right wing and converted to give the Jaguars a 2-0 lead.
Strong play by the defensemen – Nathan Guseman, Dylan Graziano, Grace Gonzalez and Emily Stornello -- and impressive passing by the entire squad were the hallmarks of the third stanza, as the Jaguars scored two quick goals early on and then worked to extend the lead and preserve the shutout for goaltender Luke Brzezinski, who stopped all 10 shots he faced.
Ryan Louthan scored at the 9:45 mark of the third period on assists from Lukas Bomba and Brenczewski. Just 12 seconds later, Hudak broke away from the pack to tally an unassisted goal, making it 4-0.
Mite #2 added goals at the 7:05 mark by Jarrett Goodwin, on an assist by Hudak, and at the 5:10 mark, by an unassisted Bomba, before Goodwin notched the final goal of the game (and his second of the contest) with just :01 on the clock. Guseman received credit for the final assist.
The Jaguars will next be in action at 7:20 P.M. Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they host the Huskies on Inwood ice.
